Heart of Wales social weekend overview

We have chosen a Spa hotel for this social weekend for singles in the Heart of Wales. There will still be lots to do with options for walking, photography tuition, visit the Red Kite centre and Luxury Spa. Photography tuition will be limited to 10 people, to get the best out of the location and receive the personal attention you need to learn at your own pace. Please state Photography at the time of booking.

Walking: Walks on each day will involve some climbs but we walk at a leisurely pace so that we can enjoy the wonderful scenery of the hills and valleys. The walk on Saturday will be around 8 miles, and on Sunday the walk is about 6-7 miles and will be back in time to have a pub lunch or cream tea before departing.

You can also visit the Red Kite Centre and we will finish the walk on Saturday close to Gigrin Farm so that those who want to visit the Centre at feeding time 3pm can do so (small entrance fee). Check out the website at www.gigrin.co.uk.

Photography: This weekend incorporates workshop sessions and in-field tuition, you’ll learn about camera functions and handling, apertures, shutter speeds, depth of field, composition and much more. Oh and there will be plenty of freedom to take pictures of the stunning scenery around us. On Saturday we can visit the Red Kite Centre at feeding time to capture images of these magnificent birds (small entrance fee). On Sunday we’ll still find time amongst all that photography to have a pub lunch or cream tea with the group before departing.

There are many other local attractions for the non walkers / photographers, including the chance to visit the lovely Hall at Abbey Cwm-Hir, the Elan Valley Visitor Centre at Rhayader www.elanvalley.org.uk, the Red Kite centre www.gigrin.co.uk or use the wonderful Spa facilities at the hotel or play golf at the nearby Llandrindod Wells golf club, which welcomes visiting golfers www.lwgc.co.uk.

We stay at the superb Metropole Hotel in Llandrindod Wells. Its bedrooms are decorated and furnished to a high standard. The Hotel's Victorian grandeur is complemented by a superb indoor Leisure and Spa Complex in a Victorian style conservatory. Facilities include a 54ft heated swimming pool, sauna, whirlpool, steam room and beauty salon, where you can book many treatments. We have also arranged to have the Spa facilities available until 4pm on Sunday after checking out.
